Gamers rejoice. PlayStation has announced Australian pricing and availability for its virtual reality headset.
PlayStation VR will set Aussies back A $549.95, the company said Wednesday. The product will launch in October 2016 in Australia, as well as Japan, North America, Europe, Asia and New ZealandIf you're super keen, the device is now available for pre-order from select retailers.
In the U.S., the headset will retail for $399, which means Aussies aren't paying too much more, per Wednesday's currency rates.
However, the headset is not all you need to get started. As YouMash has pointed out, you'll also need a a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Camera to run the experience. A 500GB PlayStation 4 currently goes for about A $479.95 and a PlayStation 4 Camera costs A $89.95.
Nevertheless, PlayStation VR ends up being quite a bit more affordable than premium VR headset, HTC Vive. Aussies will pay US $899 for the device, the company has confirmed, which ends up being not at all cheap at A $1204.91, not including shipping and conversion rates. And of course, you'll also need a sufficiently powerful PC to run the headset.
If you want to be a VR early adopter, it looks like you'll have to pay for the privilege.
