About WAU
WAU – Watchorn Architecture & Urbanism – is a full-service architecture and urban design practice based in New York City, working across residential, commercial, and institutional sectors. Our work is driven by a deep curiosity for new organizational typologies that offer unique ways of living, working, and engaging with one another.
Our practice is structured around a clear distinction between project design and project delivery roles. While our design team leads the creative aspects of a project including conceptual development and design authorship, our delivery team leads the technical elements, ensuring these ideas are translated into well executed, code-compliant, and constructible buildings, on time and on schedule. This position is firmly embedded within the project delivery side of the practice.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager / Technical Architect to lead the delivery of ambitious projects through documentation and construction. You will coordinate across disciplines, manage consultant and client communications, and ensure the creative and technical expertise in equal measures – where technical leadership plays a critical role in realizing innovative design ideas.
What You’ll Do
- Lead multidisciplinary teams during the project delivery phases, ensuring seamless integration of creative and technical development
- Translate design concepts into coordinated, buildable construction solutions
- Manage project schedules, budgets, scopes, and deliverables
- Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to align goals and expectations
- Conduct code and zoning analyses, oversee regulatory submissions, and facilitate permitting processes
- Supervise the production of construction documents and implement rigorous quality control standards
- Lead construction administration efforts including RFIs, submittal reviews, and site coordination
- Mentor junior team members and support their technical growth
Who You Are
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
- Have 8+ years of post-graduate experience, including at least 3 years in a technical coordination or project management role
- Licensed architect or actively pursuing licensure
- Deep knowledge of building systems, construction methodologies, detailing, and code compliance
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively within a practice where design authorship and technical delivery are distinct but mutually reinforcing
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Bluebeam, and MS Suite
- Passionate about design innovation, technical excellence, and collaborative project execution
