MILAN DESIGN LOFT Competition

Terraviva launches MILAN DESIGN LOFT, a new international competition that invites participants to rethink the interiors of a loft for an architecture student!

Prizes up to 8.000 € will be awarded to the winners, selected by an international jury including Christian Gasparini (NAT Office), Chiara Sangermani (Politecnico di Milano), Han Kuo (Supra-Simplicities), Dave Edwards (Bartlett School of Architecture) and Olga Skoczylas (Lublin University of Technology), among others.

BRIEF

Milan Design Loft is an interior design competition set in the heart of Città Studi, one of Milan’s most vibrant academic districts and home to the Politecnico di Milano. The competition focuses on the renovation of a loft, characterised by double-height spaces, generous natural light and a strong spatial identity.

Participants are invited to completely rethink the apartment, imagining a contemporary living space designed for an architecture student. The challenge goes beyond aesthetic choices, encouraging designers to reflect on daily routines such as studying, working in groups, resting and socialising.

PRIZES

• 1st Prize: 3.000€
• 2nd Prize: 2.000€
• 3rd Prize: 1.000€
• 5 Golden Mentions: coupon for a free membership
• 10 Honorable Mentions: coupon for a free competition
• 30 Finalists: published on Terraviva channels

GUIDELINES

Working within limited dimensions is a central theme of the competition. What may initially appear as a constraint becomes an opportunity to explore inventive interior solutions, flexible layouts and multifunctional spaces. Full freedom is granted to redefine the organisation of the apartment, modify the mezzanine and experiment with materials, furniture and lighting strategies.

Milan Design Loft is an invitation to think big within a small space, designing an interior that is expressive, functional and capable of supporting contemporary student life in one of Europe’s leading architectural capitals.
