Madinah International Architecture Festival 2026
has unveiled Jabal Umm Nuthaylah International Site Design Ideas Competition. The competition invites architects, landscape architects, urban designers, and multidisciplinary teams to reimagine one of Madinah’s most distinctive volcanic landmarks.
Launched under Al-Madinah Region Development Authority (MDA) and operated by AlMunawarah Innovates, the competition aims to attract participants from around the world, with a total prize pool of USD 430,000 across multiple winning entries.
Located approximately 14 kilometers south of Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi, Jabal Umm Nuthaylah is a distinctive volcanic landmark of exceptional geological and natural significance. The competition invites participants to propose innovative design concepts that seamlessly integrate architecture,landscape, sustainability, cultural identity, visitor experience, and urban innovation.
The competition aims to transform Jabal Umm Nuthaylah into a world-class, sustainable cultural and visitor destination, while preserving its identity and unique geological landscape.Architects, landscape architects, urban designers, planners, and multidisciplinary teams from around the world are invited to participate before registration closes on 20 August 2026.
