The Bigfields Students Prize was launched to pose broad and fundamental questions about the future of architecture, cities, and landscapes to university students — the future experts of our disciplines.
With no predetermined site or program, the competition invites diverse and creative interpretations around a single, thought-provoking theme each year. These questions reflect the evolving issues of our time, and the answers will accumulate year by year as shared memories that prepare us for the future.
This competition brings together student design projects from universities across Asia in the fields of architecture, urbanism, and landscape architecture. Through this shared platform, we aim to showcase a wide range of visions rooted in the characteristics of each academic studio and institution.
We believe that your imagination, shaped by unique cultures, traditions, geographies, and developmental paths, will spark new and unexpected dialogues. These collective visions may contribute to shaping a new direction for Asia’s future.
Don’t hesitate. Your idea may become someone’s future.
1. Competition Theme
“Competition Theme: Memories of the Future”
We understand the world through memory. It frames our sense of time, defines place, and gives meaning to space. Today, we stand in an era of unprecedented transformation — marked by climate change, technological innovation, urban evolution, and shifting ways of life. These changes demand new questions:
“What will people of the future remember?”
This competition is a platform for architectural experimentation. Through the spatial languages of architecture, urbanism, and landscape, participants are invited to imagine and articulate memories that have yet to exist.
Design not just for the past or the present — but for places that deserve to be remembered, values worth preserving, and landscapes to be cherished by future generations. This is not merely a design task, but an architectural statement — a chance to propose emotionally resonant spaces that bridge time and memory.
