In the heart of the Modena hills, surrounded by fruit trees and open landscapes, La Svolta Farm is going to host a self-build workshop focused on the realization of a pergola, designed as a resting point for walkers, cyclists, and visitors.
The construction site is located in a strategic area of the property, at the edge of a natural biolake and next to a scenic trail that leads to a nearby monastery. The structure, conceived to offer shelter and relaxation, should be integrated into the hilly landscape, in dialogue with nature and the agricultural identity of the site.
Throughout the workshop, participants will design and build a pergola, prepared to support climbing plants and adaptable to the sloping terrain. A key aspect of the project will be the development of a ground anchoring system suitable for the local clay soil, aiming to ensure stability, reversibility, and environmental sensitivity. The project also includes the design of integrated seating and resting elements, offering a place to pause briefly or spend time enjoying the quiet of the orchard, near the pond. The process will follow a hands-on, sustainable approach, with a particular focus on lightweight, temporary architecture.
La Svolta Farm, known for its production of jams, juices, and honey, provides the setting for this experience that blends design, collective construction, and immersion in nature. An opportunity to enhance the rural landscape through manual work, creativity, and care for the territory.
