Expansion of the Galleria Borghese Museum in Rome

Proger S.p.A., a leading independent Italian engineering firm with an international presence in the Arts&Culture sector, promotes and sponsors the International Architecture Competition for the Extension of the Galleria Borghese’s Exhibition Spaces and Visitor Facilities.

The project stems from the need to address the constraints of the existing spaces, while improving visitor reception, security and the overall quality of the museum experience. Its aims include bringing works not currently on display to the public, redistributing visitor flows and strengthening the Museum’s international standing.

The intervention is conceived as an opportunity for regeneration, underpinned by a sustainable design approach with close attention to environmental impact and the ecological, historical and landscape balance of the site. The Competition calls for a design proposal aimed at the functional and architectural expansion of the complex, developed to a level of detail corresponding to the Technical and Economic Feasibility Design.
