Terraviva launches FUNES HOUSE, a new international architecture competition that invites participants to design a contemporary home in Argentina, conceived to grow over time while embracing the relaxed lifestyle of the site…
Prizes up to 8.000 $ will be awarded to the winners, selected by an international jury including Franco Schiaffino (Estudio Schiaffino), Maria Virginia Theilig (FAPyD), Davide Corti (Davide Corti Architetto), Vanshika Bhaiya (GLUCK+) and Chen Yang (Olson Kundig).
BRIEF
Funes House invites participants to design a contemporary family residence in Funes, a leafy residential city just outside Rosario, Argentina. Located on a rectangular plot between two existing houses, the project explores how architecture can make the most of a suburban site while creating a strong identity and a generous relationship with the garden.
The competition asks designers to imagine a permanent home that captures the atmosphere of a weekend retreat. Outdoor living is therefore central to the proposal: the garden, swimming pool, barbecue area, shaded spaces and transitions between inside and outside should be conceived as an integral part of everyday domestic life.
PRIZES
• 1st Prize: 3.000 $
• 2nd Prize: 2.000 $
• 3rd Prize: 1.000 $
• 5 Golden Mentions: coupon for a free membership
• 10 Honorable Mentions: coupon for a free competition
• 30 Finalists: published on Terraviva channels
GUIDELINES
A key aspect of the challenge is the possibility of building the house progressively. The project must be developed in two construction phases: a complete and fully functional ground-floor residence for a young couple, followed in the future by the addition of an upper level as the family grows. This evolution should be anticipated from the beginning, ensuring that circulation, structure and spatial organisation work coherently in both scenarios.
Participants are encouraged to experiment with form, materials, interiors and landscape design, proposing a house that is adaptable, distinctive and deeply connected to the way of living that has made Funes such a desirable place to call home.
REQUESTED MATERIAL
Two A1 panels (59,4 x 84,1 cm – horizontal) and a brief text describing the proposal (250-500 words).
