Terraviva is happy to announce the launch of LIVING RUINS II! Participants are challenged to imagine a new concept of Open-Air Museum, focused on the spectacular ghost village of Dereiçi (Turkey). The program include also the design of a Visitor Centre, to be conceived as the main reference point for tourists and a support space for cultural activities… Prizes up to 10.000 $ will be awarded to the winners selected by an international jury panel composed, among others, by Ayhan Gök (Mardin Provincial Directorate), Foteini Kanellopoulou (Arup), Xuanyu (Alfred) Wei (Diller Scofidio + Renfro) and Francesca Porro (Stefano Boeri Architetti).
BRIEF
hrough the design of a proper Open-Air Museum, “Living Ruins II” aims to collect projects capable of guaranteeing the conservation and revalorisation of such a unique Turkish heritage.
As stated in its own title, this competition attempts to counteract the current status of “Ghost Town” attributed to Dereiçi. By inviting visitors to spend more time exploring and appreciating the area, Slow Tourism could foster a deeper connection to the site, promoting virtuous practices and supporting the local economy.
Participants will be asked to design a museography concept that will transform Dereiçi into a dynamic living exhibition. The project should seamlessly blend historical elements with contemporary interventions.
