Project Petals Youth Builders Environmental Fellowship

Registration Deadline: Oct 31, 2025; Submission Deadline: Oct 31, 2025

Project Petals, a nonprofit addressing the environmental inequities in underserved NYC neighborhoods, is launching the Youth Builders Environmental Fellowship, a program dedicated to equipping the next generation of leaders to take on climate change and environmental inequity in their communities.

The Youth Builders Environmental Fellowship is designed for youth ages 18-27 from under-resourced and frontline communities—neighborhoods most impacted by climate change, yet often excluded from decision-making. Five selected fellows will each receive the following investments, which will enable them to turn their passions into tangible, community-driven projects that create resilience and visible impact:

  • $500 in seed funding to design and launch a local environmental or climate project. This project must include an in-person component that directly engages the fellow’s community, ensuring that the work creates a visible, tangible impact on the ground. This could include:

    • Creating community gardens, resilience hubs, and green spaces

    • Organizing sustainability workshops, food security workshops, and climate justice campaigns

    • Launching local initiatives that help communities withstand extreme heat, flooding, and other climate related impacts.

  • Mentorship and guidance from environmental leaders, green job professionals, entrepreneurs, and policymakers

  • Skill-building workshops on leadership, project planning, climate justice, and community engagement

Applications are now being accepted HERE, and fellows will be announced later this fall.
